The company is registered in the Czech Republic and the site is written for an Australian readership. That combination is worth stating plainly rather than obscuring: the publisher is not an Australian entity, holds no Australian licence of any kind, and is not a security provider, a reseller, a retailer or an authorised agent of any product mentioned here. It publishes a website.

What the site is for

Antivirus software produces a recognisable set of complaints: the machine got slow, something I trust was blocked, it will not update, I am being billed for something I do not remember buying, a frightening page appeared in my browser. Each of those has a real explanation and a sensible response, and most of the material written about them is either a vendor support article aimed at one product or a review page aimed at a sale.

This site takes the symptom as the starting point instead. Each page names a situation in the words someone would use to describe it, explains what is actually happening, and works through what to do about it in an order that makes sense. The advice is written to be useful regardless of which product is installed.

How subjects are chosen and ordered

The honest version, because a claim of broad independence that is not real is worse than a narrow scope that is:

• Troubleshooting subjects are chosen by how commonly the problem occurs and how poorly it is served elsewhere. Nothing commercial affects which symptoms get a page or what those pages say.
• Commercial coverage is limited to one product. Flint Digital has a paid affiliate relationship with the vendor of Norton AntiVirus Plus and with no one else. That product is named on the products covered page and on the homepage, and those are the only places a paid link appears.
• No product is ranked, rated or scored here. This site has not conducted testing, so it publishes no results, no scores, no awards and no comparisons between products. Where independent testing matters, it points to the organisations that do that work and publish their methodology.
• Nothing is written to order. No vendor reviews these pages before publication, and no payment has been accepted for a particular opinion, position or wording.
• Order on a page follows the reader’s problem — most likely cause first, most consequential step first — rather than commercial value.

How pages are written and checked

Pages are written and maintained by the Flint Digital editorial team at InUmbra s.r.o. There are no bylines on this site and no author personas, because a name on a page of general troubleshooting advice adds an appearance of authority without adding anything a reader can verify.

Three rules govern what may appear:

1. General claims are linked to their source. Where a page states what a regulator does, what a law provides or what an operating system includes, it links to the body or the documentation that says so. Where no such source can be cited, the point is phrased as general guidance or left out.
2. Product-specific claims are kept to what can be stood behind. This site does not publish prices, feature lists, platform matrices or subscription terms for any product, because those change and a stale version is worse than none. The vendor’s own site is cited for all of it.
3. Nothing is invented for effect. There are no testimonials, no reader stories, no quoted experts, no statistics without a source, no test scores, no badges and no seals anywhere on this site. If something like that is not on a page, it is because it does not exist rather than because it was omitted.

Every page carries a last reviewed date in the footer. When something material changes — a regulator’s remit, a link, an approach that no longer works — the page is updated and the date moves.

What this site does not do

• It collects nothing. There is no form anywhere on this site, no newsletter, no account, no quiz and no chat widget. Contact happens by email, and only if you choose to send one.
• It carries no tracking. No analytics, no advertising tags, no conversion pixels, no third-party scripts and no fonts loaded from elsewhere. The site sets no cookies, which is why there is no consent banner: there would be nothing to consent to. The cookie policy explains this in full.
• It hosts no software. No installer, tool or utility is served from this domain, and no page here scans, inspects or diagnoses anything about your device.
• It provides no support. Flint Digital cannot access anyone’s account, cancel a subscription, issue a refund or troubleshoot a device remotely.
• It gives no professional advice. Nothing here is legal, financial or professional security advice, and the terms say so.
