Cookie Policy

This site sets no cookies. That is the whole policy; the rest of this page explains what it means and what happens instead.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits, which is how a site can recognise a returning browser. Cookies are used for useful things such as keeping you signed in, and for tracking, such as following a browser between sites to build an advertising profile.

This site sets none

Flint Digital sets no cookies of its own and permits no third party to set a cookie through it. Specifically, there is no analytics cookie, no advertising or retargeting cookie, no conversion or tracking pixel, no social media embed, no embedded video or map, and no session identifier — there is nothing to keep a session of, since the site has no accounts, no forms and no shopping basket.

This page lists no cookie names because there are none to list. If you check with your browser’s developer tools or a privacy extension, you should find storage for this site empty. If you ever find otherwise, please write to info@flintdigital.online and tell us what you found.

It follows that there is no consent banner on this site. A banner asking permission for cookies on a site that sets none would be a false statement, and would ask you to agree to something that does not exist.

What happens instead

Two things, neither of which involves your browser storing anything.

• Server logs. The hosting provider’s server records each request in the ordinary way: the IP address, the user agent string, the URL requested, the response code and the timestamp. These are used to keep the site secure and working, are kept for 30 days, and are described in the privacy policy.
• Nothing else. Every page on this site loads exactly three things from this domain: the page itself, one stylesheet and one small script. No font, library, image or script is requested from any other host, so no other company learns that you visited. Fonts are drawn from the ones already on your device.

Other forms of storage

The site uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage, no IndexedDB and no cache-based identifiers. It does not fingerprint your browser: no canvas, font, audio or device enumeration is performed, and no script on this site attempts to identify one visitor from another. The only JavaScript here is a single first-party file that opens the menu on small screens and highlights the current section in the contents list. You can read it at /assets/main.js — it is short, unminified and makes no network requests.

Controlling cookies in general

Although this site gives you nothing to control, your browser lets you manage cookies for every site you visit. In Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari the controls sit in settings under privacy, and typically allow you to block third-party cookies, clear existing cookies, delete data for a specific site, and browse in a private window that discards storage when it closes. Blocking third-party cookies in particular is a reasonable default and will not affect this site, because it uses none.

If this ever changes

If a cookie, an analytics tool or any third-party script is ever introduced to this site, this page will be rewritten to describe it — what it is, who sets it, what it does and how long it lasts — and a working consent mechanism will be in place before the first such cookie is set, not afterwards. The effective date at the top of this page will change on the same day. Until that happens, the statement above stands: no cookies, no storage, no tracking, and nothing to consent to.
